If you’re looking to make a move to anywhere in or around the London area you should certainly take a look at Kingston upon Thames . . . it really does have a lot to offer.
One important thing to consider about moving to Kingston upon Thames is that you really do get the best of both worlds. You are within a short striking distance of the bright lights, hustle and bustle of central London (less than a thirty minute train journey) yet there is a world apart right there on doorstep.
Let’s take a look at the best bits.
The historical town of Kingston upon Thames still retains much of the market town feel and boasts around 500 shops which means that you can find just about anything you will ever need right there. You can enjoy a superb, eclectic mix of old and new with a terrific ambiance where things definitely move at a slower pace than in the neighbouring city.
The area is bordered by the delightful wide open spaces of not one but two royal parks – Richmond Park has more than 600 deer and is steeped in history. The view from King Henrys Mound towards St Pauls Cathedral a full ten miles in the distance has been protected since 1710 and is definitely a sight worth seeing. You can also enjoy a relaxing stroll by the side of the River Thames from Canbery Gardens . . . the serene beauty of Teddington Lock will take your breath away.
Another fabulous way to spend a few relaxing hours is to hop aboard a boat trip to Richmond or Hampton Court, perhaps take a stroll around the specialist markets in the Ancient Market Place and enjoy some delicious delicacies, particularly around Christmas time.
Okay – so it sounds like a fabulous place to visit, but what about actually moving to Kingston upon Thames – what does it have to offer residents on a daily basis?
Properties are snapped up pretty quickly, particularly in KT2 – North Kingston close to the primary schools. Another reason why this area is so popular is that it has a rather unique and comforting village atmosphere with a great variety of local cafes and shops – unfortunately this popularity is pretty much reflected in the house prices.
There are also a variety of libraries and community centres, local churches, the Rose Theatre, cinemas, restaurants, bars and more – the area has a lot to offer for children, young families and great nights out without the kids too.
Kingston upon Thames is one of the most popular London suburbs and when you see what it has got going for it there’s little wonder. It’s a terrific place to raise a family with no shortage of wide open spaces for little legs to explore yet also has a lot of attractions for grown-ups, younger city workers and more. Whatever your situation or time of life, if you have the funds you’re sure to find what you are looking for there.
